Washington County, also known as “The Birthplace of Texas,” was given that name because it contains the site where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed in 1836. Brenham is a city located almost at the center of Washington County. It’s within reasonable distance, located between Austin & Houston, and south of College Station. In 1848 it was populated by German settlers and now hosts the annual German Heritage Festival. Brenham is probably best known for being the home of Blue Bell Creameries, which in my opinion is the best ice-cream you can get! It is the ranked 3rd on the best-selling scream list in the U.S. It is also home to Blinn College, a junior college with other locations throughout Texas. Brenham offers many options for lodging, things to do, and places to eat. For more information check out this visitors guide visitbrenhamtexas.com!
