Approximately 60 homes were lost in the Hidden Pines fire in Bastrop County last week. One of those homes was Rick Moninger’s. Rick’s home was lost the first day. Rick had enough time to load his three dogs in to his truck and leave. Everything he had was lost. Rick was building his home little by little as he could afford it. His plan was to have a home without a mortgage when he retired in a few years. The home was about 60 percent complete but it didn’t have a standard roof yet, just a yurt like canvas roof. This made his home uninsurable. We have started a gofundme to help raise funds to buy Rick a “container” home from Campco Texas. Here is the link to the the page. If you would like to help Rick any amount will be helpful. Thank you in advance
It has been a busy year here in Central Texas for Real Estate and for that I am very grateful! One of the things I do is make charity donations out of some of the commissions I earn representing Buyers and Sellers. My Clients have an opportunity to choose their favorite charity or I have a list of local charities they can choose from. I also participate along with many other caring individuals in animal rescues from local shelters around the country.
Sometimes the donations are big and sometimes they are small. My most recent donation was 10.00 and along with 8 others who made similar donations in our group ( there may have been others ) this little cutie that was named “Rele” was rescued from being Euthanized by Little Paws 4 Rescue. This was a video published of the dog at the pound.
and here is Rele’s freedom picture.
I do a lot with animal rescue but also donate to “human causes”. Recently I participated in a food drive for the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry through my Brokerage and also personally gave a large cash donation to the pantry so they could purchase items that might not have been donated that would be needed for a Thanksgiving Dinner.
One of the charities I am involved with here in Bastrop County Texas is the Bastrop Animal Rescue. This group of caring people work tirelessly to help lost animals find their owners, to place animals that are on the euthanasia list into caring foster homes until they can be adopted, and to rescue animals that have some kind of medical condition when they come in that immediately puts them on that dreaded list, along with promoting the animals for adoptions.
One of the ways that people can help who don’t want to adopt a pet is to foster one until a permanent home can be found. This can be very rewarding. If you are interested in potentially fostering a dog or cat you can follow this link to the Bastrop Animal Rescue website and the foster Application.
Yesterday I made a charity donation to the Bastrop Animal Rescue – the monetary donation was a small part of my earned commissions from the recent sale of a residential property in Bastrop County. The Sellers were avid dog lovers and supporters of this local rescue non profit. I hope that with this donation we were able to help some dog or cat in desperate need in some small way.
If you are looking to buy or sell a property in Bastrop County or the surrounding area and you would like to work with a Realtor who believes in giving back when she receives – call me, Deb Dahlberg Rowland – Realtor. 512-743-0516.
As part of the way I can give back to the local community I developed a program where I work in conjunction with my Clients to make a donation of a portion of my earned commissions when we have a successful closing either buying or selling to one of the many charities in need.
I will happily make the appropriate donation at our upcoming closing to any one of the programs listed on my Charity page on my website and I let my Clients choose which one I should make the donation to.
Another way donations to get creative with donations we most recently have done is to use the funds to shop for infant outfits that were donated to the Family Crisis Center in Bastrop for distribution.
If my Clients have a different charity they are familiar with that they would like to benefit from a donation please they can send me the information and I will make it happen after our closing be they the Buyers I represent or the Sellers who’s property I have sold.
I am always grateful for the work as a Realtor and this is just one small way for me to say thank you to the community.
