I am Docenting today at the Fayetteville Area Heritage Museum which is located at 1119 N Washington Street on the historic square here in Fayetteville Texas. The museum was establisehd in may of 1986 by Janette Donaldson, Louis “Buddy” Polansky and his wife Irene. I love spending time here. So much to see and learn about the rich Czech and German peoples who settled in this area.
The Museum has Archival programs that include Acquisitions, Preservation, Oral History Collection, and Research, and they have Educational Programs such as Permanent and Rotating Exhibits, Demonstrations and Genealogy.
The hours vary but the Museum is open most Saturday’s from 11 am to 2pm. There is no Admission but Donations are appreciated. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an Adult. There are Free tours for School Groups available.
This morning I helped clean the Fayetteville Area Museum ( I am a Volunteer Docent there ) and once we were done with that, it was such a nice day I decided to jump in my car to drive around and tour exactly what homes, rural residences and ranch properties with homes that are Active on the market in Fayette County.

The rain started on Friday the 24th. Here is the Weather Bug map that I pulled up. Fayetteville was right in the thick of things! We got a total of 10 plus inches from Friday to this morning…which by the way is a beautiful sunny day. Large rains like this are not uncommon and with the El Nino weather pattern we may see more this fall and winter which is fine with me as I want us to crawl out of our drought status!
The ponds were overflowing on Saturday as you can see in these pictures I took driving Sunday from Fayetteville on FM 159 to a showing I had at one of my ranch listings in Red Rock Texas!It was a wet weekend for sure. Loved every second of it. But glad to see the sun today. And all of these pastures went to brilliant green in those three days! Gotta love Texas!
Did you know that originally Fayetteville was called Lickskillet? Truth! This weekend Fayetteville is celebrating it’s 39th Annual Lickskillet Days. This is a big deal in this quaint little City. Good food, shopping, history, entertainment it’s all here around the historic square. There is even a parade tomorrow! After the parade on the Square Mayor Ronnie Pflughaupt will honor Jerry and Shirley Chovanec by proclaiming “Jerry and Shirley Chovanec Heritage Day.” Located just a few miles off of Hwy 71 between Columbus and La Grange. Centrally located in between Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Come on out and help us celebrate!
