Acreage on Young School House

17+ acres of pasture | Pond | Bring your horses

There is a lovely piece of pasture land for sale in the much sought after Upton area on Young School House Road which is half way between Bastrop and Smithville off of FM 2571 on the west side of the Colorado River.  It’s price has recently been reduced!

This property has supported horses and cattle in the past.  It has a nice elevated building site up by the pond about midway on the parcel that will offer panoramic views of the area.

The market is limited for reasonable horse properties

This morning I pulled a search for a home ( site built, mfg., or single wide mobile home) on seven or more acres within a 70 mile radius of Austin for a Customer who is looking.  The pickings are pretty thin!  I found only four listings  under 225k in the Austin Listing Service.  I still need to check two other listings services but here is what I found so far.   I work as a Buyer’s Agent, in the Buyer’s best interests but I am paid at close of escrow a percentage of the Listing Commissions.  If you are looking for a dedicated Realtor to help you find a property, or sell a property,  horse property, or not, please consider me.  My office is in Bastrop, I have a home office in Fayetteville, and I work what I call the “in between”, the area that falls between Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.  Feel free to give me a call to discuss your real estate needs.  Deb 512.743.0516.

Brown’s Mill?

Just 14 miles Northeast of Giddings on FM 141 is a small town called Dime Box, TX. The town was originated when a working saw mill was established there. They named the town after the owner of the mill (Brown’s Mill). Eventually the name was changed to Dime Box to rid confusion between Brown’s Mill and Brownsville. As of 2000 the population was at a whopping 200! Interesting fact about Dime Box is it housed one of the earliest Presbyterian churches in the state. So if you’re looking to get out and drive down a windy road with farms/ranches on either side, Dime Box is your place!

Here is a partial list of properties that are for sale in the Counties of Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette, Lee, Gonzales that are “horse friendly”  in that they allow horses.  The type of fencing, if any may vary.  The topography of the land will vary from heavy tree cover to pastures. The acreage range and pricing can be modest to over the top. Many times Buyers are looking to buy a house and build their own horse set up – the way they want it.  That is what I recently did at my new little historic home on a few acres in Fayetteville.
