Yesterday I was out in Rockne TX taking a picture of a home that is about to close for one of my Buyers. Cute little vintage home!

While I was in the area I took a few minutes to stop in the Rockne Museum. I had driven by it for many years always in a hurry. Yesterday I made myself stop and I was so glad I did.
There are some amazing old buildings that have been reconstructed and moved there. I enjoyed walking around them and thinking on how life must have been back in those days.
Then I headed over to the Hilbig Museum which was closed to see what the hours were and that is where I saw a bust of Newt Rockne. Unfortunately my picture didn’t turn out of it ( drat I have to go back lol). That is how I learned that Rockne got it’s name from the kids that were attending the Sacred Heart school back in 1931. They were given the opportunity to vote on a name and they voted to name it after Rockne as he had recently perished in a plane crash. Who knew!

If you you are ever in Bastrop County and at all interested in history take a little time to drive out to Rockne! Texas has some awesome history! And, if you are looking to buy or sell real estate in or around Rockne please give me a call ( Deb 512-743-0516 ) I would love to help you!
