What’s the word?

A common question being asked around Bastrop lately is “What is going on behind Wal Mart?!” The answer… Pecan Park! Bastrop is getting a new subdivision. As the city grows, so does the demand for housing. Pecan Park has two builders (David Weekley and Scott Felder). Lots are currently available for purchase. If you want an idea of what to expect, drive by and look at their model homes! The main entrance is located on Childers behind Wal Mart. There will be a variety of home styles to choose from, and they start from the low $200,000’s. Get yours before they’re all gone!

Paws Plus offering Vet Clinics at Tractor Supply locations

Paws Plus only began holding clinics in Texas in April 2014. They exclusively service a majority of the Tractor Supply Stores on the weekends and service the same stores every 4 weeks.

Here are the dates and times of the stores in our area of Central Texas for  September:

                 Bastrop                Sunday 9/21/14       11am – noon

                La Grange           Sunday 9/21/14       2:30 -3:30pm

                Giddings             Saturday 9/6/14      9 – 10am

                Brenham            Saturday 9/6/14      1 – 2pm

                El Campo            Sunday 9/14/14       11am – noon

                Columbus          Sunday 9/14/14       2:30 – 3:30pm

If you have seen or frequented Paws Plus’s competition, there are many things that set them apart from the rest.

The first thing is they are located inside of the store out of the heat.

Their crew and setup is very professional and streamlined. Crew members are in coordinated scrubs and the Veterinarian is wearing a lab coat.

Their Veterinarians perform a physical exam which includes getting a temperature, listening to heart & lungs, looking at eyes, ears, abdomen, etc.

Paws Plus has been providing affordable vaccine clinics for 15 years and are now located in 18 states. They offer Vaccines for dogs and cats, Heartworm Testing, Feline Leukemia/FIV testing, Heartworm prevention and flea prevention and Microchips at the clinics as well as an online pharmacy for Heartworm and flea prevention.  The good news is that  Paws Plus is  a “no pressure” atmosphere, meaning if someone wants only a Rabies vaccination, we are happy to accommodate and since there is no exam fee then a single Rabies vaccine would cost the client $13.80 (which includes a bio-hazard fee). I think that their Microchips are the lowest price I have seen at $15 which includes registration.

If you have cats or dogs that need some attention, mark your calendars and go support Paws Plus at Tractor Supply!  Tell them Deb – The Realtor – sent you!

Lost Pines Nature Trails |on the Colorado River | in Tahitian Village

Yesterday I drove through Tahitian Village to get to the Lost Pine Nature Trails that is along the Colorado River below Tahitian Village. This is a public park area down on Riverside Drive that offers access to the Colorado River for canoeing and kayaking and hiking, biking, and ADA trails. It is a beautiful 30 acre tract of land that adjoins the 60 acre wetland and riparian habitat. Both are beautiful to enjoy all year long. Personally I like them in the winter months the best! I had not been down their since the recent Bastrop Complex Fire and had my fingers crossed that they had not been destroyed. I was overjoyed to find that they were untouched. See pictures of both the Nature Trails and the Land Trust below.

Tahitian Village was one of the areas that was hard hit in the recent Bastrop Complex Fire with many homes lost, but there is a lot of activity and healing going on and it looked like most all of the homes that were lost have been leveled to the slab. Some have even had slabs removed and are starting to reconstruct.

Buyer Testimonial | Land purchase

Buyer Testimonial | Land purchase – a happy Client of mine!

“I was looking for my first piece of land as a city dweller to build a %100 off grid green home and had no idea where to start looking for the right person. Someone who was not just looking to move a piece of land, but really get to know what I wanted to do with it. After seeing Deb had her own land and managed her OWN horses I knew I had the right person. Deb took no time in showing not only the properties that matched what I said I wanted to see, but also what she knew I should consider. If you are looking for someone who appreciates Texas for the land and what you can do with it Deb is your person. Working with her was a real pleasure.” Emory at Apple

Bastrop County Historical Museum

Over the holidays I went to see the Bastrop County Historical Museum for the first time. Has taken me this long to get caught up enough to share how cool it is! It is like walking in to the past! Lots of information on the people who settle Bastrop and the surrounding areas in Bastrop County. Great historical items to look at. And wonderful facts about what life and commerce was like back then. Well worth the visit and the small donation.

Bob Bryant Park in Bastrop

Bob Bryant park is nestled behind the Riverside Grove subdivision in Bastrop. It is a city maintained park that offers a playground, tennis court, basket ball court, baseball diamond, and a picnic area and restrooms. This is just one of the perks of living in Riverside Grove or The Enclave at Riverside Grove.

249 Pine Hill Loop

I have just listed a home on 1+ acre in the lost pines in Bastrop Texas. The home is an older manufactured three bedroom two bath with split floor plan, with both formal living and dining area. The home is in a small relaxed subdivision located approx 4.5 miles out of Bastrop. This small area of homes in the pines is just east of Hwy 71 and is surrounded on three sides by the Bastrop State Park. The roads are paved. This lot is a bit larger than most and actually had a second mobile home on it which was recently removed. The utilities are still in place and it might make a great location for a shop/garage/ or RV pad and hook up. This home is being sold as is and the Seller will consider owner carry terms. Being so close to three area golf courses, Lake Bastrop, the Colorado River it is a great location for someone looking for a small getaway property. Listed at 58.000 For more information on this property please contact me.

A beautiful cool morning in Bastrop

It is the third morning in a row that we have awakened to cooler weather, a great indication that fall is really hear.  There is still dew on the ground this morning and I can see where my yard birds have ventured out since it became light.  All the horses are moving around in their turn outs looking forward to their breakfast.  The neighbor’s rooster is making his morning statement across the street at the Pecan Grove.   It looks like it will be another dry and sunny day today and for the next week or so  which is great –  as plans are in the works to lay our pastures down for one more hay cutting this year. It is fairly peaceful this morning and  I am very grateful for this quiet time before I start my day as I have lots to do!  I am also grateful that we found this property when we were looking for a horse property here in Bastrop and for each and every idyllic morning like this that we have here! have here!
